A Nerdy Poem
[Writing]

Working Title: Free to Love, Slaves to Language

I'm not at all what you imagined
Just a note scribbled in your margin
The one you can't bare to look at
Or bring yourself to erase

You are the hook I could never write
Losing you between the lines
Trapping you in crumpled pages
At a loss for words again

So maybe this is love
You've been the verb
I've become the noun
But structure can't confine us
Though your hesitant commas divided us
When all we thought was simple present
Became continuous

Still I'll never regret knowing
I will have loved
Even if there is no future perfect
So I will be holding off my punctuation
Waiting for you to finish your sentence

I'm not really a grammar nazi. In fact, my grammar is awful. For this reason I was especially amused by my random grammar references. Wtf.

Losing you between the lines (Meaning both reading too much in between the lines and being unable to put feelings to words)

At a loss for words again (Emphasizing the above)

So maybe this is love

I've become the noun (Play on how love is both verb and noun to emphasize "You" has a tendency to love/ was a demonstrative lover and "I" have progressively come to love them to the point where being me means loving them therefore I "am" love for them...)
But structure can't confine us
Though your hesitant commas divided us (Commas are often used to separate ideas or mark pauses - our ideas seperated us and "You" put distance between us/ suggestion that it is a temporary separation)
When all we thought was simple present ( We thought it was simple and wouldn't last/ play on simple present tense: I love /)
Became continuous (It developed into more/ play on continuous present tense: I am loving)

Still I'll never regret knowing
I will have loved
Even if there is no future perfect ( Knowing that I loved will be worth it even if there's no such thing as a perfect future/ play on future perfect tense: I will have loved)
So I will be holding off my punctuation (Holding off my final decision/conclusion to the matter/ leaving us open to "editing")
Waiting for you to finish your sentence (A more obscure play on sentence as a) the metaphor of what is happening between us/ waiting for "you" to speak to me again/ The use of sentence in the sense of being "sentenced" to something, such as a prison sentence)

It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out, it doesn't matter much to me.

[Notice] / [Open]

(As some of you may know...) When the mood strikes, I am a crazy organization whore. I like to have everything systematically organized in the most functional possible way. Putting my own ideas together with inspiration from how others organize their journals, I've decided to organize mine now, before it's too late. Changes are:

-All old posts will be marked as [Miscellaneous General] and mildly edited for content/ spelling but otherwise left relatively the same with a few exceptions.

-Tags will all be re-edited for consistency in previous entries and maintained throughout the new entries.

-Entries that are random or don't fit a particular category will all be marked [General] (Except posts of this nature which will be labeled [Notice]) and will be viewable to everyone on my F-list.

-The rare but possibly existing public entry will be marked as [Open]

-Some entries will be filtered to only include specific individuals either for the sake of my own comfort or to protect someone's privacy. These will be marked [Custom-Locked]

-These Categories will be filtered, meaning that you will get to choose which kinds of entries do and don't appear on your F-list. Because of this new system I'm likely going to make many more entries so it'd be good of you all to take the time to tell me which you'd like to be able to view so I can organize you accordingly. Currently they are:

[Creativity and the Arts] Anything discussing my own creative pursuits and projects as well as general topics associated with creative projects in general (i.e instruments and tools, techniques, media, etc.) Music, drama, film, writing visual arts...everything. Any actual projects that I work on will likely be displayed at relativelyyours.

[What I'm Reading] I figure this requires it's own filter because a) I like talking about books. A LOT. b) It'll likely cross over with at least one other filter at some point but not always the same ones.

[The World] - I'm going to to become more savvy about the world I live in. This category will deal mainly with news articles. Subjects will be things like science, politics, the media and global/national/community/etc events as well as my thoughts on the subject.

[Society, Human Nature and Philosophy] Any articles, events, questions, concepts, theories, thoughts or reflections on the topic. You can expect to find the contrasting opinions of others, open-ended questions, my own questions, my opinions on things and my opinions on other people's opinions, etc, etc, etc, etc. Sociology, philosophy, psychology and all that jazz.

[Real Life] Heh, don't choose this category unless you don't mind/want to be reading about my friends, my family, and my love life among other real life things as well as hear me angst, vent or rant from time to time.

[Personal Reflections] You guys have read these before, it's pretty much as the title implies. Reflections about myself, how I act, who I am, how I feel, and what has/is/will happen to me in general.

[Nostalgia] Entries of auto-biographical nature. I feel the need to start writing down things I've lived and experienced in an effort to remember who I used to be. This differs from [ Personal Reflections] in the sense that it is meant to simply relate past events. [Personal Reflections] may make references to the past but is more specifically a general reflection on myself as a person.

[School/Career] Again, pretty straightforward. This is not so much for the random "Bah, so much homework!" statements as for actual thoughts about my education and (currently) future career. I might discuss projects, programs, or experiences among other things.

[Astrology/Tarot/Runes/Other] Pretty straightforward really. Will deal with both discussion ABOUT them and my spreads/readings/experiences. I keep it separate because I'm still experimenting and unsure of where I stand.

[Dreams] Specifically for the documenting of my dreams and dream analysis.

[Spirituality] As many of you may know, I am greatly interested in the spiritual. I'm not really set on any beliefs myself, but rather exploring different ones and examining them from both skeptical and more open-minded angles as well as for my own personal experience. Here you'd read about the different spiritual beliefs/practices I'm learning about, my thoughts on them, and my personal experiences.

[Journey of Self] This is rather broad in topic and covers many of the previous subjects but is very specific in intent. "Spiritual" growth/ "Philosophical" reflection /"Self-Actualizing" experiences. Here I'll document my growing and changing beliefs, perceptions, and experiences on my personal journey to explore myself and the world from a more abstract perspective. Will contain detailed thoughts on a variety of subjects: (philosophy, existentialism, art, religion, psychology, mythology, spirituality, science, the supernatural, symbolism, fictional and real stories/events, personal experiences, violence, love, sex, different theories/beliefs/concepts, etc.)

Please tell me which filters you'd like to be on!

Many filter categories will likely cross over from time to time. If I find that they do so enough for them to be double(or triple, etc)-labeled, then I will do so and as always it's up to you if you read or not.

Also, a tag such as "[the world]", "[spirituality]", "[the arts]" will be added amongst the tags in each entry for easy category browsing. This is for specific categories only and doesn't apply to [General]/[Custom-Locked]/[Notice], etc.
